On earth, before humans came into being, forests occupied 45% of the land.
But as civilizations came and many countries and cities developed, enormous
forests disappeared and the civilizations themselves have gone into decline.
Forests decreased to one third of the land in the early 20th century,
and are predicted to become one seventh of the land by around 2020 due
to population increases.
