Sake Culture

ささ　くこん／かんぱく　さんち／みき　かすみ 　俳句もどきのこの「おまじない」は、すべて日本酒の異名である。これはほんの一例で、じつはまだいろいろとある。 ことばというものが、時の流れのなかで積み重なった文化の層であると考えるならば、のこの一事をもってしても酒が日本文化のなかで占めてきた大きさを知ることができる。 　時代や生活形態の変化を通して、日本酒の味も変わり、酒造メーカーの研究も進んでいる今日、日本酒の日本酒たる由縁はどこにあるのだろうか。 These pictographs are characters for "sake" from long ago in China and recorded on animal bones, bronze ware, wood and papers. When looking at these characters, it can be well recognized that the character for sake is the image of a vessel.
